Mr. Yooku Fujita (藤田燿憶), who is characterized by creating compassionate Buddha statues full of kindness, expressing the mercy that dwells in his own heart.
This "Daruma Statue" is an original piece by Mr. Fujita, in which the strong will of "Dharma Master" can be felt within an abstract image. The attractive feature of this masterpiece is its form, which captures warmth in the midst of a stern gaze while making the most of the material.
Words from the Buddhist sculptor: The posture of raising the right shoulder and lowering the left shoulder represents that there is no need to seek anything; simply realizing that "the original mind is already content from the beginning" reveals the truth, and this scene bestows a "Katsu" (a wake-up call). In the Zen dialogue, there is a phrase, "the intention of the ancestors (Daruma) to return" (why did Daruma come from the West?). From India (the West) to China (the East), following the Dharma (the workings of nature) like the wind, taking root and growing into a great tree in China, and then the seeds coming to Japan where the great Zen tree has taken root in today's Japan - I created this piece while envisioning such thoughts in my heart.
