Product Details

Fudo Myoo's right hand holds the Sankoken (三鈷剣), or the Kurikara Sword (倶利伽羅剣), a blade said to disperse evil and cut away peoples' worldly desires. In the left hand, it holds a snare which is said to be used to raise and rescue those who are bound up by their worldly desires. The Fudo Myoo has a fierce facial expression. Its names indicate its status as an unwavering guardian that make enemies yield. The anecdote that Shingen Takeda created the Takeda Fudoson as a Fudo Myoo modeled after himself is famous.

Fudo Myoo, also known as Acala in Sanskrit, is a bodhisattva known for his wrathful appearance in Buddhism. His wrath symbolizes his fierce determination to confront and conquer the passions, desires, and delusions that hinder spiritual progress. Fudo Myoo is often depicted engulfed in flames, representing his purifying power that burns away impurities and ignorance, illuminating the path to enlightenment.

Typically, Fudo Myoo is portrayed with three faces, each displaying different expressions, and he possesses six arms. These multiple faces and arms symbolize his ability to perceive and act in six different directions simultaneously, signifying his all-encompassing wisdom and power.

Despite his fearsome appearance, Fudo Myoo's wrath is not directed at the faithful but is aimed at negative influences and obstacles on the spiritual journey. His primary mission is to protect and guide practitioners toward the ultimate truth. Devotees hold deep faith in Fudo Myoo, and rituals and prayers are offered to him, seeking his assistance in overcoming desires and cutting through delusions.

The veneration of Fudo Myoo is widespread in various esoteric Buddhist sects in Japan, where he plays a significant role. His appeal extends beyond specific sects and is respected by Buddhist practitioners across different traditions. Fudo Myoo is seen as a source of strength and courage, supporting spiritual growth and practice.

In summary, Fudo Myoo is a wrathful bodhisattva who symbolizes the determination to conquer passions and delusions on the path to enlightenment. His fiery appearance represents purification and illumination. Devotees hold him in high regard and seek his guidance in their spiritual endeavors, viewing him as a protector and source of wisdom and strength.
