Monju Bosatsu, in the form of a child with five hair knots, is said to be the bosatsu's entire, real form. The five hair knots represent the Five Wisdom Buddhas. The form of a child is regarded as the form that represents naivete. The bosatsu is often drawn riding upon a lion. The lion is said to be a symbol of the wisdom of the Buddhas. Like the roar of a lion, the Buddhas' wisdom smashes through various delusions. The lion is also an origin of the name, Daishishiku (the Great Lion's Roar), which means to bring about enlightenment.
