This statue is a replica of the original statue that was designated as the Japanese national treasure in 2013. It was created by the famous Buddhist sculptor Unkei in 1186. Isumu has analyzed the original statue in great depth; the eyes are colored over six times in order to recreate the original statue's powerful-looking eyes
