This statue is a replica of the original statue that is designated as Japan's important cultural property. The original statue is placed in the temple which was established by Wada Yoshimori (和田義盛), an early Kamakura period military commander. The original was created by Unkei and it represents the Buddhist sculptor's great amount of activity in eastern Japan
With great compassion and wrath, Fudo Myo-o saves those who do not conform to the teachings of Buddhism. His extreme wrath guides them into the right direction and is also a manifestation of his firm determination to save "All the Living"
