The year 6 of the Reiwa era is the Year of the Dragon. The dragon is considered an auspicious creature associated with thriving fortunes, attracting wealth, good health, prosperity for descendants, and abundant blessings for the nation. Our product features a dragon (ryu) with the dignity befitting a divine beast, embodying both majesty and numerous blessings. It is intricately carved in the form of Fudo Myoo, a deity known for its immense merit in warding off misfortune.
Crafted with a strong presence and artistic charm, this zodiac ornament is not only a representation of the dragon but also a symbol of protection against adversity. We received the blessings of a purification and fortune-invoking Goma prayer at the Mikamo Fudo Temple, known for its devoted following as a temple for prayers from the Manyoshu.
The original sculpture is the work of the artist Goh Sakai, active under the art unit "Hotokeya Sakai." Goh Sakai is renowned for his popular "Neko Butsu" series, where he carves Buddha statues in the adorable form of cats, along with various other unique Buddhist sculptures created through his distinctive artistic expression. This zodiac ornament, with its charming and powerful design, adorned with auspicious colors typical of Buddhist sculptures, reflects the artist's unique style. Please display it with the hope for a year full of happiness.
