A compact statue of Fudō Myōō (Acala), modeled after a celebrated Kamakura-period image carved in 1203 by the sculptor Kaikei.

The figure’s steady stance and intense expression are rendered with crisp detail, offering a focused presence for a shelf, desk, or small alcove.

About this piece

This piece is made in polystone using a molded production process that captures the contours and surface detail of a historical model. It is a faithful replica based on an original Fudō Myōō carved in 1203 by Kaikei, one of the most important Buddhist sculptors of Japan’s Kamakura period. Replicas of well-known temple images are produced so that collectors and practitioners can appreciate established sculptural forms associated with specific artists and periods, while keeping the overall proportions and iconographic features consistent with the reference work.

Cultural note

In Japan, Fudō Myōō is widely revered within Esoteric Buddhist traditions (Mikkyō) as an immovable protector figure who supports discipline and the removal of obstacles. Images like this are generally approached as sacred representations: placed thoughtfully, kept clean, and handled with calm respect. Many people choose a stable, slightly elevated spot, avoid placing it directly on the floor, and refrain from casual or playful treatment; when moving it, it is customary to use both hands and a mindful attitude.
