This statue is a replica of the original statue in Kyoto. The statue was made by Tankei, a Japanese sculptor who was the student and eldest son of the master sculptor Unkei. Senju Kannon finds the ones who are suffering with his eleven faces and saves them with his thousand arms, which represent infinite mercy. "Keiha" means one of the Busshi groups during the Kamakura Era (13-14C) which dominated Buddhist statuary. Master sculptor Unkei and Kaikei belonged to this school; their realism and dynamism are still highly regarded
