This statue is made in polystone using a molded production method, then finished in a Keiha Gold tone to emphasize the layered silhouette and fine relief. The model follows a well-known Senju Kannon image attributed to Tankei of Kyoto—eldest son and direct successor of Unkei—and reflects the Keiha school’s Kamakura-period approach to sculpture, where clear structure and lifelike presence were central. The Senju Kannon form developed within established temple traditions as a complex, multi-armed icon type, created to present a complete, all-encompassing figure in a single work while maintaining an overall sense of composure.
