Shigetsu is a Japanese-made wristwatch designed with a quiet, traditional sensibility and a clear focus on detail—down to the dial finish and the engraved caseback.
The watch pairs a stainless-steel case and bracelet with a brass dial set with 12 natural diamonds, and a domed mineral strengthened glass crystal. It uses a Japanese quartz movement with time and moon-age display.
About this piece
This is a contemporary Japanese wristwatch produced in Japan, built around a stainless-steel case (screw-down, engraved caseback) and a free-adjust stainless-steel bracelet. The dial is specially made for this model, combining a radiant sunburst-style center with a matte outer ring, and is set with 12 natural diamonds. The defining feature is the caseback: the Heart Sutra (Hannya Shingyō) is engraved in extremely fine, small raised-style lettering, with an additional inscription indicating that prayers for the wearer’s wishes were performed at Jōryō-in (Teigakuzan Jurō-in), a historic temple associated with Shinshu Zenkoji. The set includes the watch, a paulownia presentation box, and a prayer certificate.
Cultural note
In Japan, Buddhist texts such as the Heart Sutra and references to Shaka (Shakyamuni Buddha) are treated as religious culture, often encountered at temples, in family altars, and in everyday devotional items. The Heart Sutra is widely recited in many Japanese Buddhist traditions as a concise expression of Mahayana teaching, and items bearing its text are commonly approached with a composed, respectful mindset. If you choose to wear or keep this piece, it is customary to treat it as something more than decoration: handle it with clean hands, avoid placing it directly on the floor, and store it in a tidy, dedicated spot when not in use.

Consecration (Eye-opening Ceremony)
You can choose an option to consecrate this statue before shipping from Japan. If you select this option, we will bring the statue for an eye-opening ceremony and ship it to you after the ritual is complete.
This is recommended if you want your statue to be more than an object — a presence you can practice with. This option is not required.
